Suzanne Hoffman, Ph.D., Principal

Suzanne Hoffman, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist (PSY15000), organizational consultant and trainer who has worked extensively with a variety of private corporations and public entities, consulting in the areas of management and organizational development, workplace sexual harassment, workplace violence prevention and critical incident debriefing. Her professional expertise also includes intervention with problematic behaviors in the workplace, anger and stress management and in developing effective crisis response protocols. Of note is the fact that Dr. Hoffman has developed a unique individualized sexual harassment intervention program, created as an alternative to group training for managers and executives, which emphasizes education, insight and behavioral change. Her experience also includes post-trauma counseling and critical incident debriefing for organizations that have experienced workplace tragedies.

As a Principal in Baron Center, Inc., Dr. Hoffman oversees a staff of trainers and psychologists. In addition to providing consulting and psychological services, she frequently conducts training seminars on management and communication skills, sexual harassment and workplace violence prevention and intervention. Recognized as a sensitive and effective speaker, Dr. Hoffman offers practical direction to Human Resource and Management professionals. Additionally, she provides pragmatic suggestions for dealing with inappropriate, emotionally enraged and potentially dangerous employees. Her scope of practice also includes individual management coaching and leadership skills training, and she frequently works with executives in both the private and public sector to develop and hone communication skills and problem solving abilities and to maximize organizational effectiveness.

Dr. Hoffman holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from San Diego State University, and earned both a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. Dr. Hoffman served as a member of the faculty at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University from 2003-2007, teaching Law and Ethics courses and working as a professional training liaison.

A member of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA), Dr. Hoffman currently serves on the Board of Directors for SDPA, and previously served as the chairperson for both the Continuing Education and Women’s Issues Committee’s for SDPA. Publications include a co-authored a book with Dr. Anthony Baron on organizational effectiveness and workplace violence entitled When Work Equals Life: The Next Stage of Workplace Violence, and the chapter for Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection (2001, CRC Press) “Stalkers, Stalking and Violence in the Workplace Setting.”
