Violence Prevention
Baron Center, Inc. has assisted learning institutions
nationwide in establishing quality Safe School
programs. Our staff has provided training and/or
counseling services to victims, students, faculty
and/or staff of Columbine High School, Santana
High School, Granite Hills High School, City Universities
of New York, University of Southern California,
the California State University system, and the
University of California system.
The key to reducing school violence is breaking
the code of silence among the students, faculty
and staff.
Avoiding the "profiling" approach to school violence
prevention, we believe that the only reliable
"predictive" factor is threats made to others
concerning their chosen targets. Our belief has
been endorsed by the United States Secret Service
in its recent report entitled the "Safe Schools
Initiative."
Dealing with a threat of school violence demands
a multi-disciplinary approach. There are no easy
or fast solutions when faced with an on-campus
threat involving students, parents, staff, faculty,
or outsiders. We're here to help school districts
and academic institutions with the following state-of-the-art
services:
Consultation
and Threat Assessment
Our expert staff can assist you in assessing threats,
providing forensic statement analysis of student
writings, targeted graffiti, drawings, and other
inappropriate correspondence and behaviors and
in preparing a comprehensive school-wide program
for your institution. In the event of a post-trauma
crisis, we provide consultation and counseling
to the school by experienced licensed psychologists.
We can also survey your campus and provide practical
ideas for improved security.
